Sophia impresses at the U20 Indoor German Championships in the 800m

True to the motto “… she deserved it …” our Sophia (U18, 1st year) competed in her specialty, the 800 meters , at the German U20 Indoor Championships in Sindelfingen on the last weekend of the holidays

the qualifying standard in mid-January at the Saxon Indoor Championships – and hinted there that even more was possible. In Sindelfingen, she was to impressively confirm this.

A race with brains – and a heart-pounding finish

In one of the three heats, Sophia ran a very cleverly paced race, staying well within the field for a long time and remaining fully aggressive until just before the finish. The reward: 3rd place in her heat and a strong time of 2:14.53 minutes.

Could she even grasp it herself right away? This time represented another personal best – and she was only three-tenths of a second away from qualifying for the final. A blink of an eye. Or to put it another way: We almost had to spontaneously book another night's accommodation.

Mega performance on a big stage

Even without reaching the final, one thing remains certain: a performance on the national stage, a new personal best, and a race that gives us confidence for everything to come. We are incredibly proud of you, Sophia, and congratulate you warmly on this achievement! (MA)
