O-SEE Sports eV – The Association

Our world – our passion

Since 2000, the Water Sports and Surfing Club (founded in 1998) has essentially only been known as the organizer of the O-SEE Challenge. A small, somewhat chaotic and daring group, mainly surfers who had taught themselves to surf at Lake O-SEE in its early years. Now, surfing at Lake O-SEE is no longer the main attraction; the O-SEE Challenge has become a mega-event, achieving world championship status in 2014. The small club has transformed into a close-knit group, effective, well-connected, and quite professional in its handling of the O-SEE Challenge. However, internally, it remains somewhat anarchic. At the end of 2014, the decision was made to change this and adapt the club's structure and organization to current requirements. These current requirements mean that the O-SEE Challenge has created a need for an active club that actively participates in sports, focusing on cross-sports and cross-triathlon/triathlon. The Water Sports and Surfing Club can and should meet this need in the future. So in November, a radical restructuring of the club was decided upon, combined with a renaming to O-SEE Sports eV.

The club now sees itself as the sporting home of all those who enjoy outdoor sports in all its nuances and facets. Open to new things, eager to experiment – but also cultivating classic endurance sports. Here, the club has already made a significant impact in its short active period: Firstly, Mirko Querfeld was voted the most popular athlete of the year in the Görlitz district in 2014, and secondly, the numerous participations and good results in running and endurance sports events regularly garner media attention both regionally and beyond.

The club currently has 5 departments:

Cross triathlon,
general cross-sport
, athletics
, kite and surf sports
, O-SEE X'Kids
