German U20 Championship in the 4×400 meter mixed relay
The first weekend in May turned out to be a special experience for the O SEE Sports team. At the German Long Relay Championships in Celle, our young athletes presented themselves in excellent form and showed just how much potential they possess.
Preparation with great effort
In the weeks leading up to the competition, Lucas, Sophia, Franz, and Sophia worked with great focus. An intensive training camp during the Easter holidays laid the foundation for their development. They successfully qualified in Rumburk on April 19th despite the cool and rainy conditions. Their focus was clearly on the 400-meter distance to ensure they were optimally prepared for the mixed relay.
Competitive atmosphere in Celle
There was a motivating atmosphere in Celle. Sophia said after the race that the German Long Distance Championship races on Saturday evening had given the entire team extra motivation for their own start.
Among the 26 registered teams, O SEE Sports was the only team from Saxony. Lucas opened the race with a strong run. Sophia mastered her first German Championship with ease. Franz kept the pace high and handed off to the second Sophia, who finished fourth in the first of three heats.
Youngest team in the starting field
In the overall standings, the quartet from Bernstadt, Ottenhain, and Oderwitz achieved a very respectable twelfth place with a time of 3:50.13 minutes. All four athletes are still in the U18 category, making them the youngest team in the entire field. This result demonstrates their considerable athletic potential and the value of shared experience at this level.
Thanks to all supporters
The team extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who accompanied them on their journey to Celle. Championships like these clearly demonstrate the importance of a strong support network and how many supporters from the region stand behind these young athletes. (MA)
