DSC Combined Events Meeting on May 16, 2026
On the second weekend in May, we traveled to the Heinz Steyer Stadium in Dresden. Twenty-one athletes from O-SEE Sports competed there. They showed great commitment from the start and presented themselves in front of an impressive crowd.
It became clear early on that Marlene was having a fantastic day in the W13 category. She scored 2,447 points in the pentathlon, winning the gold medal. Her lead over second place was 200 points. Shortly afterward, Leon also had reason to celebrate in the M10 category. He finished third in the pentathlon, taking home the bronze. Furthermore, Julia in the W10 and Selma in the W11 both finished in the top five of their respective age groups.
Meanwhile, the Saxony Championships in the combined events took place for the U16 age group. Noah, Franta, Matteo, and Annabell competed for O-SEE Sports. All four consistently scored points and capitalized on their opportunities for good results. Franta, in particular, impressed in the throwing pentathlon, which included the 100-meter dash, long jump, 80-meter hurdles, discus, and shot put. He ultimately won the silver medal in the M15 category.
Beyond the final rankings, the importance of team cohesion was once again evident. The athletes supported each other, offered encouragement, and ensured that no one had to go through the competition alone. This resulted in many personal bests, which particularly pleased the coaching team.
In the end, the competition demanded patience from everyone once again. The final starts in the 2,000-meter and 800-meter races were delayed for a long time. Nevertheless, the team remained focused, because a multi-event competition only ends with the last event. Giving up was out of the question for everyone.
In the end, everyone reached the finish line. They demonstrated perseverance, determination, and true team spirit. They deserve great respect for that. (MA)
