Moments of happiness – Doing sports together makes you happy
Under this motto, the teams from AC Rumburk and O-SEE Sports met at the Weinau Stadium in Zittau on September 27th. In preparation for our joint hosting of the international " Lusatian Race Walking " on October 24th, a joint children's athletics day was held. Sunshine, colorful sports equipment, and mixed teams of Czech and German kids created a relaxed atmosphere for our younger children. They were able to demonstrate their skills at several stations. The U8 to U12 children tried their hand at throwing, jumping, sprinting, and even a walking relay. Perhaps this event attracted some more courageous participants for the 1km race walk, which is part of the supporting program for the international and high-caliber race walking event in Weinau on the last weekend of the school holidays. The older athletes from both clubs also gave their all in a triathlon spontaneously created by the German-Czech coaching team and showed great enthusiasm in the final relay race.
The organizing team would like to thank all supporters of the entertaining event; you helped ensure that a lot of happy kids, parents, and coaches went home more than satisfied and with increased team spirit on this Sunday.
The Kids Teamcup and the “Lusatian Race Walking” are supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) via the “Small Projects Fund INTERREG Saxony – Czech Republic 2021-2027” of the Euroregion Neisse.
The aim of the German-Czech cooperation is to bring together athletes from the border region and beyond, thereby fostering new encounters in the border area. In addition to their experiences, participants should take away as many memories as possible and experience the encounter with the "other" as enriching. Personal interaction and learning other languages take a back seat to individual national identities. Furthermore, the existing partnerships between clubs will be strengthened.
